Mail.ru Group, according to RBC, is introducing a new mechanism for identifying users of the e-mail service.
We are talking about the use of one-time passwords. They will be sent via SMS text messages or via push notifications that appear on the screen of a mobile device.
The new system is expected to improve security. One-time passwords will be valid for a limited time and for one authorization only. And this means that it will be impossible to pick up such a cipher and gain unauthorized access to the mailbox.
βOften, mail is the βkeyβ to all other user services, so taking care of mailbox security is critical. In the future, the innovation will significantly enhance the security of mail, because if the password is missing, then it cannot be lost or guessed,β said Mail.ru Group.
It is also noted that in the future, Mail.ru Group may completely abandon traditional passwords. At the same time, new means of identification will be introduced - for example, using fingerprints and face scanning.
