Mark Hamill will not play Vesemir in The Witcher. The role will be played by Danish actor Kim Bodnia.

Kim Bodnia is best known for his roles in The Homicide (2007), The Bridge (2011) and Killing Eve (2018). He also starred in many Danish films. In The Witcher series based on the fantasy cycle by Andrzej Sapkowski, the actor will play the old and experienced witcher Vesemir, who is the mentor of the main character, Geralt of Rivia. The hero is kind to his pupils, calm and wise, and also very strong.

It is not known why Netflix was unable to negotiate with Hamill (primarily known as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars and the voice of the Joker in many projects) for the role. There is a chance that the company offered him something more interesting. The second season of The Witcher will be released in 2021.
