Netgear has announced the Nighthawk AX4 router, designed for use in medium to large households.
The novelty (RAX40 model) supports the Wi-Fi 6 standard, or 802.11ax. It promises to improve the spectral efficiency of the wireless network in busy air conditions and double the theoretical throughput compared to the 802.11ac Wave-2 standard.
The router can operate in the 2,4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. In the first case, the bandwidth reaches 600 Mbps, in the second - 2400 Mbps.
The device is powered by a dual-core processor. The design provides for the presence of two external antennas. Dimensions are 360 × 215 × 60 mm, weight - approximately 620 grams.
There are five Gigabit Ethernet network ports (1 × WAN and 4 × LAN) on the back of the case. In addition, there you can also find a USB 3.0 connector for connecting any peripherals, say, external drives.
The Netgear Nighthawk AX4 router will go on sale later this month and will be available for an estimated price of $200.
