Motherboard based on the AMD B550 chipset poses for a photo

One of the longest-running stories in the news field in recent months is the preparation for the announcement of more affordable AMD 500 series chipsets. The flagship AMD X570 has already completed its mission, and PCI Express 4.0 support should go down to more affordable price niches. There was a photo of the motherboard based on AMD B550.

Motherboard based on the AMD B550 chipset poses for a photo

Resource VideoCardz published a photo of the SOYO brand motherboard, which is based on the AMD B550 chipset. The latter should not be confused with the similar AMD B550A, which has been offered in the OEM segment since October last year, but is just a variation of the AMD B450, for which PCI Express 4.0 support is partially allowed. Only the expansion slots closest to the processor socket are capable of operating in PCI Express 4.0 mode in such boards.

The source suggests that the specified motherboard provides PCI Express 4.0 support for both PCI Express x16 slots and for the M.2 SSD slot. Apparently, the black PCI Express x1 slot is also not deprived of this ability. The board format (Micro-ATX) does not imply a significant removal of expansion slots from the processor socket, but for previous sets of logic this would have become a problem.

When such motherboards will be ready to go on sale, it is not specified. If the company of the same name received the flagship AMD X570 due to unification with one of the components of its central processors, then the AMD B550 logic set should be created by ASMedia. The presence of the AMD B550 chipset in the photo suggests that its mass production has already begun. Most likely, the whole issue with the timing of the announcement comes down to the presence of AMD's political will.
