Viber messenger, popular in Russia, announced the launch of a new service called Viber Local Number: the service is designed to make communication even more comfortable.
The new feature allows you to subscribe to a phone number so that even subscribers who do not have Viber can call and send SMS messages to it at "home" rates from anywhere in the world. In other words, users can select a phone number in the host country to automatically forward calls and messages to their Viber account.
The service will be available to subscribers all over the world. You can receive an unlimited number of calls and SMS messages to your local Viber number.
“International companies can provide customers and partners with a local business number and stay connected wherever they are in the world. Travelers can “feel at home” in any country by using a local number to make restaurant reservations, tour bookings and a host of other services.
The new feature is available in the Viber mobile apps for Android and iOS devices. To use the service, just open the "More" menu and select "Viber Local Number".
The service costs $4,99 per month. But the first 10 subscribers will get a special perpetual plan for $1,99 per month.
The ability to subscribe to a local phone number is already available in the UK, US and Canada, with more coming to other countries in the near future.
