The Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) and the Russian Research Institute Huawei (Huawei Russian Research Institute) announced the creation of a joint research laboratory.
The project is being implemented on the basis of the MIPT School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics. The laboratory specialists will be engaged in research and development in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning.
One of the priority tasks is the creation of neural network algorithms for computer vision and machine learning. In addition, methods for computational photography and image enhancement using mathematical modeling and advanced algorithms will be developed. Finally, scientists will have to solve mathematically complex problems in the field of creating algorithms for simultaneous search and positioning.
“This format of cooperation will allow us to combine the experience and efforts of the academic community and leading industry experts to develop breakthrough technologies and create the most modern, convenient and advanced devices,” the partners said in a statement.
We also add that the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei has opened joint laboratories already in 10 Russian educational institutions and research institutes.
