Microsoft company announced about the intention in October to begin the formation of preliminary test builds of the Edge browser for the Linux platform. Builds for Linux will be distributed through the site Microsoft Edge Insiders or in the form of standard packages for popular Linux distributions.

Recall that last year, Microsoft start development of a new edition of the Edge browser, translated to the Chromium engine. In the process of working on a new browser, Microsoft joined to the Chromium development community and began to return improvements and fixes being made for Edge to the project. For example, improvements related to technologies for people with disabilities, touch screen controls, support for the ARM64 architecture, improved scrolling, and multimedia data processing were transferred to Chromium.
