Microsoft "announced" Windows 1.0: MS-Dos, clocks and more!

On the official Windows Twitter account appeared unusual and intriguing record. Microsoft has announced the release of a completely new operating system Windows 1.0. The irony is that the first version was released in 1985 and was only a graphical shell for MS-DOS, similar to Gnome, KDE and other graphical environments for Linux systems.

Microsoft "announced" Windows 1.0: MS-Dos, clocks and more!

The tweet includes a video that shows all versions of Windows in reverse order. It all starts with Windows 10, then Windows 8.1, 7, Vista, XP, and so on until Windows 1.0. And the text of the tweet itself says: “Introducing the new version of Windows 1.0 with MS-Dos Executive, Clock and even more!”.

This put many users into a stupor, and fan theories began to circulate on the Web about what the Redmond company had in mind. According to one version, this is a hint at the announcement of some new system. Perhaps a hypothetical Lite OS, which should become an alternative to Chrome OS.

Another opinion claims that this is just an advertisement for the new season of Stranger Things, which starts tomorrow, July 4th. Considering that events will develop just in 1985, this looks logical.

Finally, do not discount the option that this is just a joke. One way or another, the details will probably appear in the coming days, but the developers from Microsoft are still silent and keep the intrigue.
