Microsoft will add streaming to Xbox One in October

Microsoft has been talking about preparations for the launch of its xCloud game streaming service since October last year, and thanks to the last presentation at E3 2019, we got the details of how it will work. As Microsoft notes, we are talking about two approaches being developed simultaneously: a full-fledged xCloud cloud service and a more local mode.

Unfortunately, for the time being (this October) it will not be a full-fledged cloud platform in the spirit of Google Stadia or PlayStation Now, but a special mode on the console, more in line with the similar Valve Steam streaming function. β€œTwo months ago, we connected all Xbox developers to Project xCloud,” said Xbox CEO Phil Spencer. "The console streaming service will now turn your Xbox One into a personal and free xCloud server." Microsoft says its console owners will be able to stream their entire Xbox One library, including games from Xbox Game Pass, to multiple devices.

β€œAt the Xbox team, every decision is based on the belief that games should be accessible to everyone,” Spencer said. "That's why we keep updating hardware and services, and that's why we bring communities together through cross-platform play." This new streaming service will expand on Microsoft's already existing offering of streaming games over a local area network by allowing them to be streamed anywhere over the Internet. It will be interesting to know how Microsoft is going to deal with the problem of delays?

However, work on the preparation of a full-fledged launch of xCloud is also being actively carried out. After a brief demo in March, Microsoft is now allowing E3 attendees to experience the service live for the first time. The company, however, still does not name any dates or price levels for xCloud. Recall: Google will launch Stadia this year at a price of $ 10 per month (with some reservations in the form of a need to purchase a starter pack).
