Chromium-Based Microsoft Edge Gets Improved Focus Mode

Microsoft announced the Chromium-based Edge browser back in December, but a release date has yet to be announced. Not too long ago, an early unofficial build was released. Google has also decided to move the Focus Mode feature to Chromium, after which it will return to the new version of Microsoft Edge.

Chromium-Based Microsoft Edge Gets Improved Focus Mode

It is reported that this feature will allow you to pin the desired web pages to the taskbar, as well as open the website in a new tab without any distracting elements, such as bookmarks, menus and other things. Microsoft is also expected to add Reading Mode to Edge to improve Focus Mode in general.

In doing so, Google will not just copy the feature, but is expected to improve it, at least in terms of interface and additional features. One of those might be the reading mode for the "focused" tab. Another possibility would be to customize the appearance of such a tab. Although the latter has not been confirmed.

All this will allow the user to focus on a specific web page and work with it, and not switch to others. That being said, since the focus mode is currently in development, users will need to wait a bit before more information is revealed on how this innovation will develop.

Unfortunately, Redmond still keeps a secret and does not specify the release date, however, according to a number of observers, the appearance of a public test version is a matter of the near future. Note that this browser is expected to work on Windows 7 and Windows 10, macOS and even Linux.
