Microsoft Edge will get a built-in translator

The recently released Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser will get its own built-in translator that can automatically translate websites into other languages. Reddit users have discovered that Microsoft has quietly included a new feature in Edge Canary. It brings the Microsoft Translator icon right into the address bar.

Microsoft Edge will get a built-in translator

Now, whenever the browser loads a website in a language other than the one installed on the system, Microsoft Edge can automatically translate it. This feature works similar to Google Chrome's translation engine, and right now it looks like Microsoft is just experimenting with a limited number of devices.

The option offers to translate sites in other languages automatically, it is also possible to select specific languages. Like Google Chrome, users can switch between the original site and the translated version.

So far, this feature is only available in Edge Canary, which is updated daily. Therefore, this feature is probably at an early stage and may still be in development for a long time. However, there is no doubt that Microsoft will add it later to the stable version of the browser.

Also note that translation extensions are also available in the Chrome Web Store if users need to translate pages into another language. Version 75.0.125.0 is currently available.

Recall that the updated Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser can run under Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 operating systems. True, the installer for it needs to be downloaded separately in order to later run it on these systems.
