Microsoft experimenting with Snapdragon-powered Surface tablets

Network sources report that Microsoft has developed a prototype of the Surface tablet, which is based on the Qualcomm hardware platform.

This is an experimental Surface Pro device. Unlike the Surface Pro 6 tablet, which comes with an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 chip, the prototype is powered by a Snapdragon processor.

There are suggestions that Microsoft is experimenting with gadgets based on the Snapdragon 8cx platform. This product combines eight 64-bit Qualcomm Kryo 495 cores and Adreno 680 graphics accelerator. Supports LPDDR4x-2133 RAM, NVMe SSD flash drives and UFS 3.0.

It is important to note that the Snapdragon 8cx processor can work in tandem with the Snapdragon X55 modem, which provides support for 5G networks with data transfer rates up to 7 Gbps.

In this way, the Microsoft tablet will be able to maintain a connection to the Internet in any place where there is cellular network coverage. Moreover, data exchange can be carried out in any networks, including 4G / LTE, 3G and 2G.

Microsoft itself does not comment on the situation. If the Surface Pro tablet prototype on the Snapdragon platform develops into a commercial device, its presentation is unlikely to take place before the second half of this year.
