Microsoft has made a new offer for those who need a new controller for their Xbox One console, computer, tablet running Windows 10, or Samsung Gear VR helmet. Unfortunately, this is not the second version of the rumored Elite controller, but just another special edition of the Phantom in white.
The sides and top of the case have a translucent gradient that allows you to see the circuit board and mechanisms inside. The back of the handles is textured for better grip. Functionally, it is no different from standard Xbox One controllers; it has Bluetooth and a 3,5 mm headphone jack. Users can also remap buttons in the Xbox Accessories app.
“The design optimally combines luxury and sci-fi, embodying a new take on technological beauty. The controller goes from top to bottom from a high-tech translucent white with gold mechanical components inside to an opaque matte white. Buttons, triggers, joysticks and bumpers are a sleek, glossy white with light gray accents,” Microsoft describes the appearance of the new accessory.
The Phantom White Special Edition will go on sale on April 2 for $70 and will complement the black version released last August. Those looking for something more advanced in a similar color scheme may want to check out the $150 white version of the Elite controller released last year. Users in a number of European countries (Russia is not one of them) can also take advantage of the Xbox Design Lab service, which allows you to customize a standard controller.
