Microsoft has corrected - not the use of Azure, but only Teams, has grown by 775%, and even then in Italy

Microsoft has corrected its own statement about "a 775 percent increase in cloud services in regions where social distancing has been introduced or self-isolation has been recommended." In particular, she corrected the announcement in the blog, and also published a correction for the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

The updated message reads: “We are seeing a 775% increase in Teams calls and meetings for users in a month-long period in Italy, where social distancing has been introduced and self-isolation has been recommended.”

Microsoft's media relations officer told The Register that the Microsoft blog was corrected around 5:55 pm PT on March 30th. This means that the error was corrected 48 hours after the publication of the statement. Understandably, Microsoft's fixing the bug was driven not only by a desire to clarify, but by the fear that customers seeing such high demand would not rush to other providers with lower demand.

Nevertheless, the demand for data center services is now very high. Bevan Slattery, founder of Australian data center operator NEXTDC, spoke about the high demand for cloud services and posted on LinkedIn yesterday stating that "Data centers are the new toilet paper." According to him, cloud providers are already seeing demand growth of 5-100%, which could grow by 100-200% in the future.
