Some users report that Microsoft send notifications to computers running Windows 7, in which it reminds about the imminent end of support for this OS. Support will end on January 14, 2020, and it is expected that users should have time to update to Windows 10.

Apparently, the notification first appeared on the morning of April 18. Posts on Reddit confirm that some users Windows 7 received the notification on that very day. In another Reddit thread, users reported that the notification appeared when booting their computer. The notification, titled "After 10 years, support Windows 7 is coming to an end" the system indicates the end date of support for the system.
The pop-up also contains a “Learn More” button on the right. Clicking on it in a browser opens a Microsoft web page that repeats the date and provides a number of options for users. We are, of course, talking about updating to a more recent OS.
As promised, the form also includes a “Don't remind me again” field that, when clicked, should stop the notification from appearing in the future. If you simply close the window, the notification will appear again in the near future.
The company clarifies that users can continue to use Windows 7, but the operating system will stop receiving software and security updates in 2020. This will increase the risk of virus and malware attacks. Furthermore, developers will gradually phase out support for Windows 7, so even the newest programs won't be able to run on it in a few years. And of course, Microsoft didn't forget to remind everyone that it's best to switch to Windows 10, or buy a new computer.
"Although it is possible to install Windows 10 "This is not recommended for an older device," the company explained. As a reminder, support Windows 8 this summer.
