Microsoft unexpectedly showed a new Start menu in Windows 10

Microsoft company released a test version of Windows 10 for internal use numbered 18947. However, it was mistakenly distributed to members of the Windows Insider program, regardless of whether they were on the Fast or Slow Ring channel. And this version, as it turns out, has a new Start menu design that will lose its signature tiles.

The leaked build was created only in the 32-bit edition. “Start” contains suggested applications, search and access to the list of installed programs. You can also note the bias towards monochrome icons. It seems they decided to abandon the list. At the same time, according to insiders, the assembly has not even passed Microsoft’s internal testing yet.

Apart from the change in appearance, there are no significant differences. Except that it's now possible to search for animated GIFs inside the emoji panel. Otherwise, this is the same Windows 10 Pro, except perhaps not the release version. It is assumed that this assembly may be a “blank” for the future Windows Lite, but this is only a version.

The company has already stated that it is looking into the causes of the leaks and is working to resolve them. At the same time, we note that in 2017 the company allowed internal builds of Windows 10 for PCs and smartphones to become publicly available. As a result, some devices experienced uncontrolled reboots. Then the developers released a bootloader recovery utility that solved the problem.
