Microsoft delays launch of major Windows 10 May 2020 Update due to zero-day vulnerability

Last month, Microsoft announced that the Windows 10 (2004) major software platform update, due to be available to the public in May this year, had been completed and was recently made available to members of the Insider Program. Now, the source says that the launch of the update is being delayed because the developers want to fix the zero-day vulnerability before the official release.

Microsoft delays launch of major Windows 10 May 2020 Update due to zero-day vulnerability

According to reports, Microsoft intended to make the Windows 10 May 2020 Update available to OEMs on April 28, and was scheduled to start rolling it out to end users on May 12. The source says that the launch date for the update was pushed back due to the fact that the developers discovered a zero-day vulnerability that needs to be fixed before the official launch. Under the revised launch date, Windows 10 (2004) will be available to OEMs on May 5th, to developers on May 12th, and to general users starting on May 28th.

Microsoft will not add any new features to Windows 10 (2004), but it is possible that the developers will fix some other problems that are already known. Most likely, the mentioned vulnerability will be fixed in the next few days, but Microsoft will not rush to launch the update in order to test the fix on Insiders. This means that the Windows 10 May 2020 Update will start rolling out globally no earlier than the third week of May.
