Microsoft's premier event of the year, the Build 2020 technology conference, took place this week and was held entirely digitally this year.

Speaking at the opening of the event, the head of the company, Satya Nadella, noted that in a matter of months such large-scale digital transformations were carried out, which would normally take a couple of years.

During the two-day conference, the company showcased new tools that give developers even more options to create their own solutions based on Microsoft technologies.

One of the main announcements of the event was the news that Microsoft is developing a new supercomputer based on the Azure cloud in cooperation with and exclusively for OpenAI, a research organization founded by Elon Musk and Sam Altman. Supercomputer, which is in fifth place in the ranking TOP-500 Supercomputers, is a system with over 285 CPU cores and 000 graphics processing units (GPUs), and a network connection speed of 10 Gbps per server.

The company also talked about new Azure Machine Learning features, available as open source on GitHub, that will help developers better understand and control the behavior of machine learning models, and ensure a more responsible and ethical approach to algorithm development.

The company-announced innovations in Microsoft Teams will allow developers to create and publish apps for Teams directly from Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code. Teams also introduces the ability for system administrators to evaluate, approve, and pre-install custom business and third-party apps for their employees.

During the conference, educational initiatives for developers were presented - new free learning modules for the Microsoft Learn platform, which will provide training in working with quantum computing using the #Q programming language and the Quantum Development Kit. A daily Learn TV program for developers will also be launched, including live programming and various discussions with experts.

The company announced at the conference the launch of Azure Synapse Link, a cloud-based solution for hybrid transactional and analytical processing, which is now available as part of Azure Cosmos DB. With it, you can receive real-time transaction data directly from operational databases. 

Fluid Framework, an interactive web-based collaboration platform, was also announced to be open source. Soon, some of its features will become available not only for developers, but also for end users.

Microsoft introduced Project Reunion at Build 2020 to provide easy integration between Win32 APIs and the Universal Windows Platform.
