Microsoft to Resume Optional Windows Updates in July

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many companies around the world have had to adjust their activities and send employees to work remotely. Microsoft did not stand aside, which, among other things, announced about three months ago that it was temporarily stopping work on optional updates for all supported versions of Windows. Now, the developers have announced their intention to soon return to the previous schedule for the release of optional updates.

We are talking about optional updates C and D, which Microsoft releases in the third and fourth weeks of the month. This means that additional service packs for all supported versions of client and server versions of the Windows operating system will soon be delivered to users in the same volume.

"Based on feedback and business stability, we will resume non-mandatory update releases in July 2020 for Windows 10 and Windows Server (1809)," a Microsoft spokesperson commented. It was also said that optional releases will now be called "Preview" and will be delivered to end users during the third week of the month. As for the monthly cumulative updates (Update Tuesday), they will still include all previous security updates, and their distribution schedule will not change.
