Microsoft to build Linux kernel into new versions of Windows 10
This will significantly increase the performance of the Linux subsystem in Windows, the company believes.
At the Build 2019 developer conference, Microsoft unveiled its own Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL 2) with a full embedded Linux kernel based on the stable, long-term version of the 4.19 kernel.
It will be updated through Windows Update, and will also appear as a separate distribution.
The kernel will be completely open: Microsoft will publish on GitHub the instructions needed to work with it and create your own versions of the kernel.
