Microsoft is actively promoting its new Edge browser based on the Chromium engine. It has already been released for many popular platforms besides Windows such as Android, macOS and iOS. Now, Microsoft has announced that a developer preview of the browser will also be released on Linux in October.
The Linux version of Edge will have little to no difference from the Windows version. It will get all the same features and a similar interface. The browser can be downloaded from the Edge Insider website. Also, it will be available in the Linux package manager. It is worth noting that Microsoft will not be easy to promote its browser on the new platform. Linux users tend to be more committed to solutions such as the Brave browser and Mozilla Firefox, which are both open source.
However, Chromium-based Microsoft Edge also has a ton of benefits. It has quite flexible privacy settings that give the user complete control over what information is shared with websites, as well as a ton of handy features like Collections and more.
