Microsoft will close access to cloud services for companies in Russia

The American company Microsoft sent a letter to Russian companies stating that from March 20, 2024 it will close access to its cloud products for Russian organizations. Information about the letter from RBC was confirmed by Softline Group of Companies (developer of the Softline Universe ecosystem). Softline PR Director Svetlana Ashcheulova reported receiving similar information from Amazon.

This is due to the 12th package of EU sanctions against Russia, which was adopted on December 19, 2023. It contains restrictions on the supply of software for business analytics (BI, CRM, etc.), Ashcheulova explained.

“For Russian companies, this means that it will be impossible to use these products or access the data contained in them from March 20, 2024. According to letters from copyright holders, these products will become unavailable to Russian customers due to the requirements of the new provisions of EU Regulation 833/2014, which imposes restrictions on the supply of various types of software to Russia. It is important to note that we can talk about all cloud products from Microsoft, Amazon and Google, which copyright holders determine as prohibited for delivery to the Russian Federation in accordance with the requirements of the above regulations,” she noted.
