Microsoft closed the digital content store for Windows Phone 8.1

About a year and a half has passed since Microsoft stopped supporting the Windows Phone 8.1 mobile platform. Now the official app store for this operating system has stopped working. Users will be able to work with applications that are already installed on devices with Windows Phone 8.1, but they will no longer be able to download any new content from the official store. The only way to continue accessing digital content is to upgrade the software platform to Windows 10 Mobile.

However, updating the software platform is not as easy as it might seem. Wireless download requires a dedicated app. Previously, Microsoft did not notify users when updates were available, so downloading them required you to check for and download the appropriate files yourself. If the user has a smartphone that supports Windows 10 Mobile, then you can download it by connecting the device with a cable to a PC and using the update tools.

It is worth noting that soon Windows 10 Mobile will also cease to be supported, but using it you can access more workable services. Recall that Microsoft previously reported that support for the Windows 10 Mobile software platform would be completed on December 10 this year, but later the developers revised their decision. According to official data, Windows 10 Mobile (1709) will stop receiving updates on January 14, 2020. It is noteworthy that on the same day completed support for Windows 7 operating system.
