Minecraft has officially surpassed 200 million copies in sales. It is reported that 126 million people play it every month. Microsoft has revealed the details of Minecraft sales as part of the celebration of the eleventh anniversary since the release of the first alpha version of the sandbox.

Microsoft also revealed that it is seeing a significant increase in Minecraft activity during the coronavirus pandemic. The game saw a 25% increase in new users last month and a 40% spike in multiplayer sessions.

Minecraft sales topped 100 million in 2016, and sales growth hasn't slowed down significantly since then. In addition, thanks to the increased interest of YouTube users in let's play and other Minecraft videos the project last year took first place in the category of the most viewed video games service.

Recall that Microsoft has acquired Minecraft developer studio in September 2014 for $2,5 billion. At the time, the game had sold over 50 million copies on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Android, iOS, and Raspberry Pi.
