Intel has officially unveiled the new NUC small form factor computers, formerly codenamed Islay Canyon.
Nettops received the official name NUC 8 Mainstream-G Mini PCs. They are enclosed in a case with dimensions of 117 Γ 112 Γ 51 mm.
Applied processor Intel generation Whiskey Lake. This can be a Core i5-8265U chip (four cores; eight threads; 1,6-3,9 GHz) or a Core i7-8565U (four cores; eight threads; 1,8-4,6 GHz).
All new items are equipped with 8 GB of RAM without the possibility of an upgrade. As part of the graphics subsystem, an AMD Radeon 540X accelerator with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory is used.
The equipment includes a Gigabit Ethernet network controller, Bluetooth 5 wireless adapters and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. There are HDMI 2.1 and mini Display Port 1.2 interfaces, three USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A ports, a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, and an SDXC slot.
The following modifications of NUC 8 Mainstream-G Mini PCs will be available to buyers:

- NUC8i7INHPA - Core i7-8565U, 256GB SSD, Windows 10 Home;
- NUC8i7INHX (kit) - Core i7/8565U, no drive, no OS;
- NUC8i5INHPA - Core i5-8265U, 16GB Optane Module, 1TB HDD, Windows 10 Home;
- NUC8i5INHJA - Core i5-8265U, 256GB SSD, Windows 10 Home;
- NUC8i5INHX (kit) - Core i5-8265U, no drive, no OS.
