"Mir" can introduce payment for purchases based on biometrics

The National Payment Card System (NSCP), as reported by RBC, is studying the possibility of introducing biometrics to pay for purchases.

Let us remind you that NSPK is the operator of the national payment system β€œMir”, which was created at the end of 2015. Unlike international payment systems, transactions using Mir bank cards cannot be suspended by foreign companies, and no external economic or political factors can affect the making of payments.

So, it is reported that Mir can introduce a payment service for purchases using a facial recognition system. Moreover, to ensure the security of transactions, facial biometrics are planned to be combined with checking other parameters - for example, facial expressions or voices.

It is assumed that the user will not need to have a bank card with him to make a payment. The buyer will be able to confirm the payment by looking into the camera and saying a predetermined phrase.

However, the project is still at the study stage. There is no information about when a fully working biometric payment system can be implemented within the Mir platform.
