The world got another tabletop card game, this time based on Borderlands

The hardest part of any new board game is explaining the rules of the game to your friends. Gearbox Software CEO and co-founder Randy Pitchford decided to do it right on stage during the company's presentation at the PAX East 2019 event. It was a prelude to the most anticipated announcement - Borderlands 3.

The new card game is called Borderlands: Tiny Tina's Robot Tea Party. It was developed and published through Gearbox's collaboration with Chicago-based XYZ Game Labs and Nerdvana Games. On the day of the announcement, it was already on sale at PAX East, judging by the posts on the ResetEra forums, which show the box art.

The game is designed for 15-minute sessions and requires from two to five participants, each of which must create their own Claptrap robot (they are the mascot of the series) faster than the rest. The cards themselves are made in a distinctive hand-drawn style for the game. Those who wish can purchase it on the official website for $20.

Borderlands: Tiny Tina's Robot Tea Party is for kids ages 13 and up. The box includes 80 cards (5 bot bodies, 54 parts and 21 actions) and a rules booklet. XYZ Game Labs has released several similar games in the past, including Inoka and RobotLab, which also challenged players to create robots using a deck of cards.
