Mitchell Baker steps down as head of Mozilla Corporation

Mitchell Baker announced her resignation from the position of chief executive officer (CEO) of Mozilla Corporation, which she held since 2020. From the post of CEO, Mitchell will return to the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mozilla Corporation (Executive Chairwoman), which she held for many years before being elected head. The reason for leaving is the desire to share leadership of the business and the mission of Mozilla. The new CEO's work will focus on driving successful products that align with Mozilla's mission and building platforms that accelerate growth.

Mitchell has been on the Mozilla team for 25 years, dating back to the days of Netscape Communications, and at one time headed the Netscape division coordinating the Mozilla open source project, and after leaving Netscape, she continued to work as a volunteer and founded the Mozilla Foundation. Mitchell is also a Mozilla Public License author and leader of the Mozilla Foundation.

Until the end of the year, the post of CEO will be taken by Laura Chambers, who is a member of the audit commission and board of directors. Before joining Mozilla, Laura led Willow Innovations, a startup promoting the world's first silent, wearable breast pump. Prior to running a startup, Laura held leadership positions at Airbnb, eBay, PayPal and Skype.
