The Roscosmos State Corporation reports that on August 15, two planned corrections of the orbit of the International Space Station (ISS) were carried out.
The operations performed were carried out with the aim of preparing the complex to receive the Soyuz MS-14 spacecraft. Its launch is scheduled to take place on the 22nd of this month.
Let us remind you that the Soyuz MS-14 device will deliver the Fedora robot to the ISS, which recently received a new name - Skybot F-850. This anthropomorphic machine will stay in orbit for about two weeks.
It is reported that the propulsion system of the Progress MS-12 cargo ship docked to the Pirs module was used to correct the ISS orbit. The unit was turned on at 08:53 Moscow time.
βThe result of operating the engines for 585 seconds was an increase in the stationβs speed by 0,58 m/s. At 11:55 Moscow time the engines of the βtruckβ were switched on again; their operating time was the same 585 seconds. As a result, the station received a speed increase of 0,58 m/s,β says the Roscosmos website.
It should be noted that the upcoming launch of the Soyuz MS-14 spacecraft will be a test for the Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle - previously manned vehicles were launched into space using the Soyuz-FG rocket. That is why the ship will go to the ISS in an unmanned version.
