The Semiconductor Products Standards Committee (JEDEC) released the DDR5 specification (JESD79) in 2020, defining module parameters up to DDR5-6400 speeds. The committee has now introduced an updated specification, JESD79-JC5, which specifies modules up to DDR5-8800, increases peak memory bandwidth by 37,5%, and adds some new security features designed to counter RowHammer attacks.
