Moon Studios says Ori and the Blind Forest works better on Switch than on Xbox One and PC

Microsoft and Moon Studios recently released Ori and the Blind Forest on the Nintendo Switch, and the performance of the game on this console was excellent. What's more, the platformer plays even better on the Japanese console than on Xbox One and PC. In one of the threads of the ResetEra forum game director Thomas Mahler commented on performance on the Switch and confirmed that the team has implemented optimizations created for the next part, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, in this version.

“Keep in mind that we have been working on our engine for 10 years, have gone through several launches and are preparing a sequel,” said the director of the game. “Many of the optimizations we made for Will of the Wisps also made their way into the Switch version of Blind Forest, so it’s a nice side effect of using an updated engine.”

“Another thing that people may not immediately notice is that the sprites in Ori were animated at 30fps on Xbox and PC, while on Switch we were able to improve the animation to 60fps per second thanks to all the optimizations, so technically Ori even animates smoother on the Switch than on other platforms,” he added.

According to the plot of Ori and the Blind Forest, after a devastating storm and subsequent terrible events, the forest of Nibel is on the verge of destruction. To save him, a little hero named Ori must muster up the courage to rise up against a mighty enemy. Hand-drawn landscapes, meticulously animated character movements, orchestral music, and a variety of skills all set the scene for a touching tale of love, sacrifice, and hope.
