Motorola Edge is a cheaper Snapdragon 765-powered Edge+ for Europe

Besides flagship smartphone Motorola Edge+ based on Snapdragon 865, at today's event the company introduced a more affordable model, which is simply called Edge. Outwardly, they are almost the same, but they are based on the Snapdragon 765 single-chip system and some characteristics are simplified.

Unlike the older model, which will be exclusive to Verizon Wireless in the US and will cost $1000, this model will go on sale in Europe and will cost €599 (that is, about $650). Motorola Edge, like Edge +, received a 6,7-inch 10-bit OLED display with a perforation for a 25-megapixel front camera, Full HD + resolution, a refresh rate of 90 Hz, an under-screen fingerprint scanner and a strong curve on the edges.

The Edge only offers 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage instead of 12/256 for the Edge+. The battery capacity is reduced to 4500 mAh, and wireless charging is not supported. Finally, the triple cameras on the rear panel are also worse here: the main sensor is only a 64-megapixel module (instead of 128 megapixels), and the 8-megapixel telephoto module has lost optical stabilization and only supports 2x optical zoom. The 16MP ultra wide-angle lens and ToF sensor seem to be the same on both devices.

Although 5G is available, the Edge does not have antennas for frequencies below 6 GHz and 5G mmWave, unlike Edge +, so this model cannot provide a theoretical download speed of 4 Gb / s. We also need to mention stereo speakers, a 3,5mm audio jack, pre-installed Android 10 OS and support for Bluetooth 5.1. In the US, Edge will be released in the summer - later than in Europe, and the price for the US market has not yet been announced.
