🥇"My Wave" on Yandex Music now works without internet connection

The "My Wave" recommendation algorithm on the Yandex Music music streaming platform now works even when the internet is disconnected. If your device loses connection, it can still select tracks from previously downloaded ones.

To ensure the recommendation algorithm works locally on the device, Yandex Music developers created a new model that utilizes only the mobile device's resources. When the smartphone or tablet is charging or has sufficient battery life, the app downloads tracks that might be suitable for the user, along with a personalized "cheat sheet" (just 100 KB in size) describing the song selection algorithm.

The server version of "My Wave" analyzes user preferences, predicts their preferred music, and the app downloads it in advance, updating the collection. When the internet is down, the recommendation algorithm switches to local mode, but the selection is made from the content downloaded by the app. In Yandex Music settings, the user can manage the amount of memory available to the app. Tracks are downloaded overnight if a Wi-Fi connection is available.
