Mozilla bought Fakespot and intends to integrate its developments into Firefox

Mozilla has announced it has acquired Fakespot, a startup that develops a browser add-on that uses machine learning to detect fake reviews, inflated ratings, fraudulent sellers, and fraudulent discounts on marketplace sites such as Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Shopify, Sephora, and Best Buy. The add-on is available for Chrome and Firefox browsers, as well as for iOS and Android mobile platforms.

Mozilla plans to provide additional resources for the development of the Fakespot add-on and eventually integrate its functionality into Firefox, which will give the browser an additional competitive advantage. At the same time, Mozilla does not abandon the development of add-ons for Chrome and mobile applications for iOS and Android, and will continue their development.
