Mozilla officially
Experimental builds of WebThings Gateway 0.9 are available on GitHub for the Turris Omnia router. Firmware for the Raspberry Pi 4 single-board computer is also supported. At the same time, we are talking about basic functionality, although in the future this system may "grow" to a full-fledged firmware.
The WebThings Gateway distribution is based on OpenWrt, a Linux operating system designed for embedded devices. It targets standard consumer routers and can be used in Wi-Fi hotspots. Source code and all data
In build 0.9, new options for notifying hosts appeared. For example, you can set up the system so that when motion is detected in the house, when the owners are not there, they receive an email.
The previous version of WebThings Gateway, number 0.8, once learned how to record and visualize data from connected smart home sensors, received new alarms in case of fire, smoke or unauthorized entry.
In general, the theme of the smart home and the Internet of things continues to develop. And the fact that Mozilla is developing open source software for gateways is very encouraging. After all, often the market presents proprietary solutions that work only in their own ecosystem.
