Mozilla has unveiled a list of features being developed for future Firefox releases. Among the changes planned for Firefox:
- Power Saving Mode, which identifies tabs running resource-intensive operations and automatically limits their resources to extend battery life. An interface for tracking resource consumption by tabs in the version for Android.
- Smart Window mode, a separate AI-powered interaction space, complements the existing standard web navigation mode and private browsing mode. This mode goes beyond Firefox's existing sidebar chatbot and allows for personalized interaction with the AI assistant and assistance while browsing.
- The ability to customize key combinations and bind your own hotkey options to actions in the browser.
- Expanding the browser's built-in PDF editing capabilities. Features such as document splitting, merging multiple PDF files, and content reorganization are being developed.
- Integration of the Multi-Account Containers add-on functionality with the concept of contextual containers, which can be used for flexible isolation of arbitrary websites. Containers provide the ability to isolate different types of content without creating separate profiles, allowing you to separate information from specific groups of pages. For example, you can create separate, isolated areas for personal communication, work, shopping, and banking, or organize the simultaneous use of different user accounts on a single website. Each container uses separate storage for cookies, Local Storage API, indexedDB, cache, and OriginAttributes content. When using Mozilla VPN, you can use different VPN servers for each container.
- Adding a built-in VPN to the mobile version.
- Quick Answers mode allows you to ask a question without leaving your browser and receive an AI answer and suggested resources for a more detailed study of the topic.
- Firefox's interface has been modernized. The new Nova design features significantly rounded tab buttons and the address bar, as well as the consolidation of the top area with the tab bar and navigation bar, the sidebar, the web page content area, and the page elements displayed when opening a new tab into separate blocks. The color palette has been updated, incorporating shades of purple and lighter, warmer tones. A glow effect has been implemented around the active tab button. Different blocks are highlighted with their own gradient colors. The spacing between all interface elements has been redesigned. The toolbar now features dedicated buttons for switching to private browsing mode and using the built-in VPN. Access to tab grouping, vertical tabs, and side-by-side tab browsing has been simplified.

- A means of sharing collections of links from bookmarks or grouped tabs.
- Expanding the address bar and search bar to make searching easier.
- Simplifying the operation of the input autocompletion system.
- Open documents and arbitrary content in Picture-in-Picture mode.
- Adding a button to the private browsing page to quickly clear cookies.
- Display warnings when opening websites that have been hacked and have resulted in a leak of information and user databases.
- Expanding capabilities to prevent user tracking using indirect identification methods.
- Support for HDR video.
