Mozilla Launches Private Relay Anonymous Email Service

Mozilla has announced the start of testing a new Private Relay service that generates temporary mailbox addresses. Such addresses are suitable, for example, for registering on websites. Thanks to it, users do not have to indicate the address of their real mailbox, which will allow them to get rid of spam and numerous advertising messages.

Mozilla Launches Private Relay Anonymous Email Service

To interact with the Private Relay service, you will need to install the appropriate extension for the Mozilla Firefox browser. This extension will allow you to generate unique mailbox addresses with literally the click of a button. The address created in this way can be used to register on websites, subscribe to any informational and advertising mailings, etc.

β€œWe will forward letters from the generated mailbox to the user’s real address. If any of the generated addresses start receiving spam, you can block or delete them completely,” Mozilla says.

The concept of a service for creating temporary mailboxes is not something new. With Private Relay, the developers hope to provide users with a simple solution to easily create and delete temporary mailboxes. It is worth noting that Mozilla is not the first major technology company to develop this area. Apple previously announced the creation of a service with a similar focus.

Currently, the Private Relay service is in closed beta testing. It is expected that open beta testing, in which everyone can take part, will be launched later this year.
