MTS will protect subscribers from spam calls

MTS and Kaspersky Lab announced the release of the MTS Who is Calling mobile application, which will help subscribers protect themselves from unwanted calls from unknown numbers.

The service will check the number from which the incoming call is coming, and warn if it is a spam call, or inform about the name of the calling organization. At the request of the subscriber, the application can block spam numbers.

The solution is based on Kaspersky Lab technologies. The program does not collect information about numbers from the phone book of subscribers and has an offline database of numbers, so an Internet connection is not required to determine the ownership of a number at the time of a call.

Users of the service can assign numbers from which annoying calls come regularly to the "spam" label. When such a number receives a significant number of complaints, it will begin to be displayed as spam by other users of the application.

Currently, the program "MTS Who is calling" available for iOS devices. An Android version will also be released soon.

The application is available in a free edition with a limited set of functions and in a paid subscription - 129 rubles per month - with full access to the service's capabilities. It is important to note that in both versions there is no limit on the number of checks for incoming numbers.
