Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer will be story related. CD Projekt is still looking for "the right" people

At the beginning of the month, the developers from the CD Projekt RED studio finally confirmedthat Cyberpunk 2077 will have a multiplayer component. It is planned to be added some time after the release of the game, and, apparently, the creators are still in search. According to level designer Max Pears (Max Pears), the company hopes to replenish the team with "suitable" specialists to work on this component. He also noted that the multiplayer is going to fit into the game universe and coordinate with the plot.

Rumors about multiplayer in Cyberpunk 2077 появились back in 2013, and after that warmed up publication of vacancies related to this component. However, all these years, the developers only experimented with the multiplayer component and were not sure that they would add it to the game. In an interview with the resource Video Games Chronicles Pierce said that the most difficult task was to fit the network mode into the universe and story.

“I can’t go into more detail right now because we still haven’t gotten past that stage,” he said. - In short, I will say that this concerns the coordination of multiplayer with the game world, history. It should not give the impression of something alien. It is important that this component bears the seal of our company. We always pay great attention to the plot. In addition, we have our own design and release features for games.”

Apparently, the first details about the multiplayer will be made public soon. But the developers have already firmly decided to make this component no less high-quality than the main game, and that is why they need new talented specialists.

"We're still hiring people - it's important to find the right people for the job," Pierce said. “At the moment we are focusing on the single player mode and trying to convince everyone that the world we have created is large enough to play alone.”

Recently CD Projekt RED опубликовала an interesting video about the creation of the Cyberpunk 2077 cinematic trailer shown at E3 2019. Previously, the developers said that the game world will be not so huge, how in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but more saturated, and also that almost all videos on the engine will be played with a first-person view.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release on April 16, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. After the premiere, the game will receive not only multiplayer, but also several free (and possibly paid) DLC.
