Microsoft has announced a new partnership with esports league ELEAGUE. During the six-part ELEAGUE Gears Summer Series: The Bonds and Betrayals of Brotherhood event, the Xbox team will showcase Gears 5 multiplayer for the first time and highlight the eSports players.
The first episode will be shown on June 14. ELEAGUE will mark the global debut of Gears 5 multiplayer. At the end of the ELEAGUE Gears Summer Series, eight of the best Gears of War teams from around the world will gather at the ELEAGUE Arena in Atlanta to play Gears 5. The event will be streamed live on Twitch.
The remaining episodes of ELEAGUE Gears Summer Series: The Bonds and Betrayals of Brotherhood will focus on the esports world of Gears of War, as well as its professional players.
Let's remember that Gears 5 was at E3 2018. Kate will be the main character of the game, but JD, Marcus and Del will also return. βHumanity's reliance on technology has caused its decline, and their enemies are joining forces to wipe out the last survivors. Journey back as Kate to uncover the origins of the Locust, and fight alongside your squad to protect what little remains,β the description reads.
Gears 5 will release in 2019 on Xbox One and PC.
