Preparations for the release of Ryzen 3000 (Matisse) desktop processors based on the Zen 2 microarchitecture are in full swing. AMD does not disclose the composition of the Ryzen 3000 lineup for the desktop segment, and it is not known how many cores its older representatives will have. Many users expect 12- or even 16-core processors to come out, but the samples that board manufacturers currently have have only up to eight processing cores. However, this does not exclude the possibility of the appearance of processors with a large number of cores, which are being prepared in an atmosphere of strict secrecy.

At the same time, the source says that in general, the improvement in performance, which is shown by the Ryzen 3000 copies available to board manufacturers, does not look so impressive against the background of expectations placed on Zen 2.
