A news section has opened on Habré. Putting everything on the shelves

Now news materials live separately from publications. After the first post, a block with five latest news appeared in the main feeds.

For what

Now about 100 materials appear on Habré a day. At the same time, formally, we have only one type of content - publications. In fact, there are many more of them: news, events, translations, tutorials, interviews, polls, videos from conferences, tests. Because of this, there are inconveniences:

  1. It takes a lot of effort to find something to your liking in a huge stream of materials.
  2. Interesting original publications go down under the pressure of the news.
  3. A large number of publications hinders the rapid receipt of news.

We want you to be able to learn about technological news and discuss them right on Habré: in a familiar environment and with your friends.

We also want to pay more attention to publication formats and thematic collections so that it is more interesting for you to learn (and we all learn from each other here). Therefore, we decided to separate the news from other publications. This is the first step in sorting out the invaluable experience that you recorded.

What happened

That's what it looks like news section:

A news section has opened on Habré. Putting everything on the shelves

Like this - a block with the latest news in the feeds of publications:

The main thing you need to know about innovation:

  1. Now all publications that had the "News" badge live in a separate section.
  2. News, like regular publications, can be commented, upvoted and downvoted.
  3. After the first post, a block with five latest news appeared in the main feeds.
  4. So far, only Habr editors can post news. In the future, this opportunity will appear for all community members.
  5. RSS works.
