PC market in EMEA region expected to decline in 2020 due to coronavirus

International Data Corporation (IDC) has published its forecast for the personal computer market in the EMEA region (Europe, including Russia, the Middle East and Africa) for the current year.

The data presented covers shipments of desktop computers, all-in-ones, traditional laptops and ultrabooks. In addition, workstations are taken into consideration.

So, it is reported that this year the supply of personal computers in the EMEA market will be approximately 72,2 million units. This would correspond to a 1,0% drop from last year.

It is noted that the negative growth dynamics will be partly explained by the spread of the new coronavirus.

In 2020, traditional desktop PCs will account for about a quarter (26,6%) of total shipments. A third - 32,3% - will be occupied by ultrabooks. Another 28,7% will be regular laptops.
