In September 2019, St Petersburg University opens the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. Enrollment in undergraduate studies begins at the end of June in three areas: "Mathematics", "Mathematics, Algorithms and Data Analysis" and "Modern Programming". The programs were created by the team of the Laboratory. P.L. Chebyshev together with POMI RAS, Computer Science Center, Gazprom Neft, JetBrains and Yandex.

Classes are held on Vasilyevsky Island in the center of St. Petersburg.
Learning programs
The first two years of study in the program are compulsory courses, in 3-4 years most of the courses are optional.
Mathematics
For whom. For those who love mathematics, theoretical computer science and their applications. The Program Council is chaired by Fields Prize winner Stanislav Smirnov. Students participate in international conferences and prestigious mathematical competitions. Graduates continue to engage in science and study at graduate and postgraduate levels, as well as work in other mathematically intensive areas, such as finance or IT.

Mathematics, Algorithms and Data Analysis
For whom. For those who are fascinated by machine learning and big data. The program is based on mathematical courses, which are supplemented by courses in programming and data analysis.
You can participate in machine learning training under the guidance of an experienced mentor. Graduates will work as data analysts and research developers in IT or product companies.
What's in the program. Mathematical analysis, algebra, mathematical statistics, combinatorial optimization and other mathematical courses. Machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision, automatic word processing, theoretical computer science, languages ββand compilers, databases, and other programming courses.
Scholarship. The best students receive a scholarship from Yandex up to 15 rubles.

Modern programming
For whom. For those who want to engage in industrial programming and the creation of algorithms. Employees of IT companies give courses and offer projects for practice. You can participate in sports programming training under the guidance of the coach of the St Petersburg University team. Graduates will work as back-end and web developers, analysts in IT companies.
What's in the program. Algebra, discrete mathematics, mathematical analysis. Algorithms and Data Structures, C++, Programming Paradigms and Languages, Functional Programming, Java, Computer Systems Organization Principles and Architecture and other strong courses in mathematics and programming.

Practices
At the end of each semester, students of the Modern Programming and Mathematics, Algorithms and Data Analysis majors will work on projects led by leading employees of Yandex, JetBrains and other companies. Projects can be very different: a browser game that introduces the Turing machine, a service for studying the human genome, predicting the sale price of real estate, a remote interview service, a sensor prototype that counts cars passing by, and others. With their help, students:
- Get to know a variety of technologies.
- They will understand which direction or technology attracts more than others.
- They will try to solve real work tasks: the projects are very close to them.

How to proceed
1. Without entrance examinations based on the results of participation in the Olympiads.
- If you won or won a prize at the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in mathematics, computer science, physics, astronomy.
- For the programs "Mathematics" and "Mathematics, Algorithms and Data Analysis" - you scored at least 75 USE points in a specialized subject and are the winner or prize-winner of the 1st level Olympiad in mathematics and informatics.
- For the Modern Programming program, they scored at least 75 USE points in a core subject and won the 1st level Olympiad in mathematics and informatics or the Olympiad for schoolchildren of St. Petersburg State University in informatics.
2. According to the results of the Unified State Exam: computer science and ICT, mathematics, Russian language - at least 65 points in each subject.
- From June 20 to July 26, register in in the Bachelor/Specialist section on the St Petersburg University website.
- Until July 26, provide documents in person or by mail: the original or a copy of the document on education and two photographs 3x4 cm. A copy of the passport, a signed application for admission, documents that confirm special rights upon admission and additional points for individual achievements, upload through the personal account of the applicant.
