The alpha release of the openSUSE Leap 15.4 distribution has begun, based on a core set of packages that is the same as the SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP 4 distribution and also includes some custom applications from the openSUSE Tumbleweed repository. A universal DVD assembly is available for download, 3.9 GB in size (x86_64, aarch64, ppc64les, 390x).
Until mid-February, it is planned to regularly publish alpha builds with rolling package updates. On February 16, the transfer of new versions will be stopped and the distribution will move to the beta testing stage using a repository maintenance model close to releases. openSUSE Leap 15.4 is expected to be released on June 8, 2022. The openSUSE Leap 15.3 branch will be supported for 6 months after the 15.4 release. The 15.2 branch will be discontinued at the end of this month.
