Testing of the first alpha version of the installer for Debian's next major release, Bookworm, has begun. The release is expected in the summer of 2023.
Major changes:
- apt-setup provides installation of certificates of certification authorities to organize the verification of certificates when downloading packages via HTTPS.
- busybox includes awk, base64, less and stty applications.
- cdrom-detect now detects installation images on regular disks.
- Added loading mirror list from mirror-master.debian.org host to choose-mirror.
- The Linux kernel has been updated to release 5.19.
- The boot menu is unified for UEFI (grub) and BIOS (syslinux).
- Converted Debian 11 installations with a separate /usr partition to a new representation that makes the /bin, /sbin, and /lib* directories symlink to their respective directories inside /usr.
- Improved detection of multipath devices.
- Added package nvme-cli-udeb.
- Implemented detection of Windows 11 and Exherbo Linux.
- Stopped experimental support for dmraid.
- Added support for Bananapi_M2_Ultra, ODROID-C4, ODROID-HC4, ODROID-N2, ODROID-N2Plus, Librem5r4, SiFive HiFive Unmatched A00, BeagleV Starlight, Microchip PolarFire-SoC Icicle Kit and MNT Reform 2 boards.
