In Russia, the manufacture of the hull of the first copy of the promising spacecraft "Federation" has begun. This is reported by the RIA Novosti online publication, citing information received from sources in the rocket and space industry.
Recall that the manned spacecraft "Federation", developed by RSC Energia, is designed to deliver people and cargo to the Moon and to orbital stations in near-Earth orbit. The ship is reusable, the latest technologies are used to create it, many of which today have no analogues in the world astronautics.
βThe Experimental Engineering Plant, which is part of the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation, ordered the manufacture of an aluminum hull for the first spacecraft at the Samara Arkonik SMZ enterprise,β informed people said.
Earlier it was said that the returned apparatus of the "Federation" will be made of composite materials. However, a decision has now been made to use aluminium. This is partly due to sanctions on the supply of finished composite products to Russia.
It is planned that the Federation ship will go on its first unmanned flight in 2022. The manned launch should take place in 2024.
