The Scientific and Technical Council of the Advanced Research Foundation (FPI), according to RIA Novosti, decided to start developing a flight demonstrator of the first Russian reusable launch vehicle.
We are talking about the project "Wing-SV". This carrier is about 6 meters long and about 0,8 meters in diameter. The rocket will receive a reusable liquid jet engine.
The Krylo-SV carrier will belong to the light class. The dimensions of the demonstrator will be approximately one third of the commercial version.
βThe project βCreation of a complex of flight-experimental demonstrators of reusable returnable cruise missile unitsβ has been approved,β the FPI press service said.
Rocket launches in test mode will be carried out from the Kapustin Yar test site towards the Caspian Sea. Earlier it was said that the first flight of the carrier with a return to Earth would be carried out in 2023 or later.
βTo develop the rocket at the head scientific institute of Roscosmos TsNIIMash, it is planned to create a new design bureau. It is planned that after the separation of the second stage, which will continue the flight, the first reusable stage will return to the cosmodrome on wings, βRIA Novosti said in a statement.
