GNU Wget 2 testing has begun

Available test release GNU Wget 2, a completely redesigned version of the program to automate recursive content loading GNU Wget. GNU Wget 2 is designed and rewritten from the ground up and is notable for moving the basic web client functionality into the libwget library, which can be used in stand-alone applications. The utility is supplied under the GPLv3+ license, and the library under the LGPLv3+.

Wget 2 is now multi-threaded, supports HTTP/2, zstd compression, request parallelization, and respect for the If-Modified-Since HTTP header, which allows to achieve a significant increase in download speed compared to the Wget 1.x branch. Other features of the new version include support for OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol), TLS 1.3, TCP FastOpen mode, and the ability to use GnuTLS, WolfSSL, and OpenSSL as backends for TLS.
