Found a way to hack millions of iPhones at the hardware level

It looks like the once popular iOS jailbreak theme is making a comeback. One of the developers found bootrom is a vulnerability that can be used to hack almost any iPhone at the hardware level.

This applies to all devices with processors from A5 to A11, that is, from iPhone 4S to iPhone X inclusive. A developer under the pseudonym axi0mX noted that the exploit works on most processors introduced by Apple in recent years. It's called checkm8 and allows you to disable operating system protection, after which you can access the smartphone's file system.

The exploit is said to support all operating systems up to the latest iOS 13.1. This means that a jailbreak will soon appear, which will allow you to use third-party stores, install additional add-ons, and so on. All data available on GitHub.

At the same time appeared the ability to install applications on iOS using third-party stores. Previously, this required either a jailbreak or a developer account. But now the AltStore utility has been released, which automates the process.

The application allows you to download programs to your iOS device using a Windows or macOS computer as a host. And although the application has some limitations, overall it is a good opportunity for those who need complete control over the system.

At the moment, the Cupertino company has not yet commented on the situation with the vulnerability. But it seems that this is a phenomenon of the same kind that was on older versions of Nintendo Switch consoles.
